I've always been against the practice of nepotism.
What made me decide to write about this? Let's just say, it is out of boredom (do notice the frequency of me writing entires recently?) and based on my observation.
I don't see the point of obtaining a degree only to end up working for a family member after. Why make your parents fork out that 100K when you could have just worked for your relatives/friend/boyfriend/husband right after SPM?
Okay, maybe a degree is needed to have a better pay or a better understanding of the work scope. I'm sure deep down, all of us would want to feel the satisfaction of achieving a job position by going through the submission of resumes, cover letters, the arduous interviews and the idontseethepointofthese tests, and be promoted based on your performance. NOT because the boss is your relative/friend/boyfriend/husband. Honestly!
I know it makes a person's life easier and s*** but what does a person get out of it at the end of the day? Stable income? Stable job? Oh-so-boring!
Even my parents are against it. They told me countless of times that if I were to be a lawyer, they'll NEVER hire me and make sure I work my arse up until I'm up to their standards then they'll consider. Thank God, I've never chosen that path. Lil brother, if you are reading this, ALL THE BEST! I know you are working tirelessly translating all those Court documents for Papa without getting paid just before you decide to take up a Law degree. Talk about cheap labour! (or child abuse? Naaaa..)
Till then, I'm done bitching for the day!
