have I broken down like I did yesterday.
I think it has been building up for several weeks and the day after my 10 hour shift, I snapped. It must be the pressure I've been getting from my supervisor, my parents, my managers and yes, the boyfriend who never seem to be there when I need him most (Men will always be men. Insensitive towards these situations and watching football with friends at mamak will always come first and after some time in the relationship, they ASSUME that you don't need to be showered by words that will make your heart melt. Now instead of getting compliments from friends "Your boyfriend is so sweet", I'm getting "What happened to you and your hubby? No more I LOVE YOU?"), on top of the fact that I have to work from 9am-4pm during CNY and most of my family members from abroad will be going back to Malaysia! WHYYY?? Why go back to Malaysia when I'm stuck here in UK? Maybe I should telephone my dad and shed crocodile tears so that he'll buy the first ticket out of UK!
As for work, I requested for a change of shift but apparently, people here are really REALLY shallow (well, to be precise my manager is an Asian too but I don't know why he's shallow either).
Carmen: Can I change my shift on the 14th? I don't mind coming in on Tuesday before Uni and work longer hours on Thurs and Fri.
Manager: WHY?
C: Its Chinese New Year on the 14th and I have plans (to go to the casino with my friends and chill out, that is)
M: You from China? You speak Chinese?
C: I'm from Malaysia, and I don't speak Chinese except for Cantonese which is a different chinese dialect
M: NO!
Summary: You have to be from China and must be able to speak in Chinese in order to change your shift/apply for leave like one of my colleagues from China. He got one week of holiday! DUDE!!!
Since my shift starts at 9am, I think my partying plans the night before MIGHT have to be cancelled.
Or I can just go to work while I'm still inebriated by alcohol. Like what my manager says, "There's a solution to EVERYTHING."
Till then, back to studying. Been doing that since 4am. Thats 6hours (minus Scrabble time, blogging time, Facebook time and toilet breaks)! OMFGIMGONNABEAGENIUSSOON!
xoxo, -carmen-
